Anticipation over

04/03/10

well falcon has finally landed on my door mat after pre ordering it in december and i raced to the cd player to listen. As soon as The Opener hits you and you know that this album has a lot of work to do to keep up this standard. The first lyrics you hear on the album "ive ben away, ive been working but now im back" feels as if liam knows how much his fans wanted this album (note to liam, were still here and care more than ever). Take over the world is one of the strongest songs on the album and is full of the cliche he says he wont ever do but shows signs of a man in love. then comes the first download from the album CMHHTD its a completely differant sound to what you wold expect to hear from the courteeners but they pul it off with syl and ease. You over did it doll is the disco ede song you thought the courteeners woldnt do but its amazing to hear theyre dtermined not to play it safe.Lullaby is a great song which almost takes you back to yesterday, today and probably tommorow. the rest of the world has gone home is a great acoustic sounding song which they do so well. The good times are calling is th song that would fill a dancefloor and definately a song that any man in his late teens early twentys like my self can relate with the "i need life more than i need a wife" referance. Then it comes to sycophant, destined in my opinion if released to be theyre biggest hit to date. Anthem doesnt do this song justice. What can be sad about Cameo Brooch, its definitely the dark horse of the album but lyrically it is a touch of genuis starting as if it is a tale of a happy young tale until you hear "with you fathers bruise on your arm" you know this isnt the song you expected but to me it is my favourite and is impossible to listen to only once at a time. scrath your lips upon your lips is yet another way of the band showing you that they have plenty more tricks up their sleeve yet. last of the ladies is like a love letter to the girl who you know you are trying too hard to woo but get their in the end. The final soung on the album will it be this way forever is another sing a long ahtem for the live shows and a grea tune. Overall this album is an album that you wouldnt exactly expect ot hear after the rip roaring rock anthems of st jude but with liams lyrical brilliance coming to prominance yet again this album is destined for the commercial success the band crave and are duely desrving of. A must hear for any fan of british music. Well done lads, bring on the tour!

Falcon Flies Me Home From Down Under

04/03/10

After litalary pounding out St Jude at clubs around Sydney, I was quite desperate to get my Mancunian mitts on Falcon. After getting emails from friends back home with reviews of some intimate acoustic shows that Liam did mid 2009, I was quite confident that Falcon wouldnt dissapoint.

My slight concern was the choice of producer, but now after hearing the finished product, it was the right choice.

No other band makes me homesick like The Courteeners do, and 'The Opener' bloody goes right ahead and does it again, thanks Mr Fray. 'You over did it doll' is a thumper, yes I know some people say ';They've gone disco', well i'm sorry but the song is class, especially when you've been 19 in Manchester with all your mates teeth falling out after a few weeks on the old base.

'The last of the ladies' is a good paen to the mrs if I ever heard one.

Without banging on I'm just gonna say, well done to the lads, Middleton will always be proud, and so will I in Sydney. Just make sure you get over here quick fast.......................there's a crowd waiting to over do it.
